Copper foiling is a stained glass technique that uses self-adhesive copper tape wrapped along the adjoining edges of cut glass pieces. The glass pieces are then joined together using a soldering iron to heat solder which flows and adheres to the copper tape.

Due to the nature of the art form pieces need to be pre-shaped with neat ground edges to allow the self-adhesive tape to be applied cleanly. Therefore for copper foiling workshops we run session for various designs, e.g. Moravian stars. This means you only need to choose the colours on the day rather than cut, grind and prepare 12 individual pieces of glass. More time making, less grind!

Our workshops include:

  • Health and Safety demonstration
  • All necessary protective equipment required
  • All the materials required to create your items
  • Tuition for the chosen item you will be creating
  • Taking home the item you made at the end of the session
  • Tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the session (we are a 5 start food hygiene rated catering venue too)

How to book

Workshops are run Thursdays through Sundays inclusive. We tend to be booked 2 to 3 months ahead.

Either drop us an email and pay on the day or pay right away through our online shop. We will then contact you to book your session in at a date that works for you.

How many people will be on the course?

We keep the number of delegates small, 5 maximum with copper foiling. We do not mix people who do not know each other. When you book if you are booking for yourself or a group of friends/relatives, those people will be the only ones on your session. Small groups give you maximum making time and a relaxed atmosphere in which to be creative.

Jill will be your tutor. Jill and John both hold industry recognised professional training qualifications. This means not only do they know their subject, but more importantly how to share it with others in a form that is easy to pick up and in a fun, relaxing and enjoyable way.
